Nohemi's Data for the Project

Updated: Nov 25, 2022

In my project, I will use open-source data from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The time frame is January 1, 2020 thru September 1, 2022.

Some questions can be answered with this data. Questions: Did Harris County see an increase or decrease in the number of road rage crashes from 2020 to September 1, 2022? Which areas had the most road rage crashes?

I also asked for data through the Texas Public Information Act from the Houston Police Department. I asked for copies of records related to road rage crashes in Harris County. With this data, the aforementioned questions can be answered. The data from HPD will allow me to know the specific location and date of the crash.

As of today, my request is still being processed. My correspondence with HPD consists of emails. The first email relates to the Texas Public Information Act. I had to remind HPD that they had 10 business days to respond to a request, according to TPIA. HPD did not respond to my request in 10 days. The second email was a response to my email. I was asked to provide a time frame. But I gave a time frame in my TPIA request.
